I honestly don't intend to. All the same, Mr. Kagami, I find myself curious to see how you intend to check yourself out of this hospital.

I do not understand why I was taken here. What they diagnosed me with is not anything I believe would prove to be fatal in the long run.

This isn't quite an ordinary hospital... or an actual one, at that. [He shrugs.]

May I see your chart?

[ Handing him her chart, she tilts her head a bit. ]

That sickness-- I believe it's the first time I've heard about it.

My, my. [He looks all too amused as he looks through his chart.]

Are you saying that you don't feel particularly hyena-like at the moment, Miss Diphda??

Sorey, Can't Be Perfect

[Jade taps at his chin a little as he thinks over the information to impart.]

That depends. It's hard to trust people who keep us under such strict surveillance, wouldn't you agree? Not to mention the ways in which our lives are constantly endangered regardless of that, and the fact that they haven't quite presented conclusive proof of their claims. There is not even proof of the existence of the so-called Flamines.

Given all of that, I believe that a little doubt is understandable. Don't you?

[ Wow, that was quite the information bomb for Sorey. He wasn't even aware of the strict surveillance, or that endangering their lives was common ... And it is possible that all their claims could be fake. He was so overwhelmed by the technology he isn't used to, and the things behind told to him, he hadn't had much time to think on it. He's assuming this man's been here a while, to know so much about the place. Sorey didn't learn any of that at that powerpoint thing.

He feels a little bad for believing what they'd said so easily now. ]

Yeah, I think I get it a little better now. I didn't even know any of that. [ Mmmnn. ] But why bring us here just to lie to us? [ A pause. ] And ... that means that our homes might not have been destroyed, right?

[ Sorey is good at being hopeful, and he'll take this hope that everyone where he's from isn't dead right now. He's glad he ran into this person. ]

[Something's wrong if he's glad to have run into Jade... but the colonel-doctor goes on seriously.]

It's a possibility. [He stresses that point.] The only solid facts we know are that CERES is in control here, CERES has access to detailed information from all of our worlds, and that they have their own secrets.

Perhaps our worlds have not been destroyed; or perhaps they truly are being restored by CERES. But there's not enough proof to support either claim. But it should be noted that the current CEO has openly admitted to being driven by personal profit rather than altruistic reasons. Whatever this situation is, it's something that they're profiting from.

[ Well, Sorey is no stranger to corrupt higher-ups. But that doesn't mean he particularly wants to deal with them any more than he has. There's a certain difficulty and seriousness that comes with dealing with them. But he will, if he has to.

He'll keep all of that in mind, though. He knows now he shouldn't trust them entirely, but maybe he shouldn't distrust them completely yet either. He needs to find out more. ]

I guess this is a lot more complicated than I thought ... [ Which he won't let be an issue — he can get through this. ] I can't really think of why they'd profit from keeping us here, though ...

[ There are a couple reasons he could brainstorm, but — he needs to see more of this world and its situation for himself. ]

It's certainly an unusual business venture. [He gives a shrug.]

Given that there's a large volume of us living in this colony, earning and spending money, perhaps it connects to that. But I suppose that further study will be needed to truly understand this alien economy. [And whether or not it happens to be the truth.]

[ Sorey isn't much for understanding the more complicated points of economies — he's only been in human society for a short period of his life, though he at least understands the basics of buying things and such. But at least he knows he can agree on the last part. ]

Yeah. It sounds like everyone here is gonna need some time to figure out what's going on ... [ Mmnn. ] But if you ever need someone's help for something in the future, you can ask me. I wanna help everyone as much as I can.

[ He wants to be useful!! And he imagines this situation will require teamwork on their part. ]

It Takes Togami

Ah, to be young and well-spoken... [He says with a hum as he strides across the room and retrieves the chart from Togami, quickly looking it over. Then he looks up and goes in a very business-like tone.]

Mr. Togami, I seem to be getting the impression that there may be something wrong with your arm. [He looks right at the arm that Togami just used to hand him the chart.]

There is nothing wrong.

[ How many times does he have to say it before it's accepted?! Now he's extra convinced that Jade is one of the people responsible for insulting him with this sham of a medical chart in the first place. ]

The only thing wrong is that I am here in this farce of a hospital when I have no reason to be.

[Jade just shakes his head with a soft shrug.]

If you're so sure that you have a clean bill of health, perhaps you should try to sign yourself out of the hospital.

[ I mean, surely I could figure something out myself, but you're right here to ask. ]
