[Jade raises a curious eyebrow at the recognition of the casting circle. His new friend and apparent colleague seems to have some familiarity with the concept... as expected of another Guy.]
So we'll let this be an unofficial investigation...
I can hold this as long as need be... but the fact of the matter is that I only needed this bit of light for a certain purpose.
[Jade is then able to locate the right pouch on his uniform from which he withdraws a flashlight.]
[ah, a flashlight. handy. flynn makes a mental note to buy one of those himself after this. the darkness has won twice so far and it won't be winning again. he gives jade a small smile.]
That's a lot more efficient as a light source, too.
[easier to move around, takes less effort to do, lights up more areas and all that. yup, buying one will be happening after finishing up here.]
Now let's get that unofficial investigation under way.
[flynn follows along and tries to spot something, anything out of the ordinary. walking around for a little yields nothing. whatever that was failed to leave them any clues.]
It doesn't look as though whatever that was left much of a trace.
Mm. [He stoops over and feels along the ground.] I haven't even found traces of any footprints. Of course, there's a number of abilities that could disguise such traces...
No, prior to that. There was an amusement park that CERES set up for us. One of its attractions, a fun house with odd mirrors, involved a monster or something of the sort attacking in the dark and leaving no trace of attack when the light returned.
My, my, is that so. Perhaps that attraction was before my time... [He taps at his chin thoughtfully as he keeps checking the area.]
Of course, some sort of ill-humored trickery doesn't seem entirely out of place in a CERES-run funhouse, but I can still see the connection. The real underlying question is what is the intention behind these mysterious encounters...
No matter the intention, none of it is justifiable.
[good intentions that end up harming more people than helping (or hurting people period) still count as bad. flynn purses his lips while wandering around some more with zero luck of spotting anything odd.]
And whatever it ends up being, it doesn't seem like it could be anything good.
Naturally. I don't quite care whether or not something is justifiable. Rather, if this is all truly intentional, finding out the motive is a key would be a key in figuring out what is wanted from us and expected of us. That is how we will know our enemy.
He's Not That Flynnto You

Yes... Let's get started, shall we? [And then he picks a direction to move in as he waves the light around.]

True, although it could also be a hallmark of CERES itself. Another incident sometime ago also involved something that failed to leave any trace.

Which incident are you referring to? The sightings that occurred during the blizzard?

No, prior to that. There was an amusement park that CERES set up for us. One of its attractions, a fun house with odd mirrors, involved a monster or something of the sort attacking in the dark and leaving no trace of attack when the light returned.
[it was a really fun first day here. really.]
