Seventh Field of Fonons [Action/Voice]

[Action]

[Earlier in the month, Jade Curtiss has started to travel outside of the barrier, in order to gain a better sense of the state of the outside world. It was a risky expedition, but he felt that it had to be done in order to look out for any unforeseen threats. And to make sure that this whole situation truly was real. Whatever Jade might have learned on his journey is unknown for the time being. Because when he finally returns to the enclosure, on the day of the Malnosso announcement, he's afflicted by a Natural Shift which impairs his memories.

Well, not just his memories. Jade Curtiss returns to Luceti as Jade Balfour, a 12 year old fonic prodigy. This Shift has left him without any of his adult memories, although it has curiously left him retaining a memory of the basics of life in Luceti. It might be easy to recognize the similarities to his adult self. However, for the most part he is humorless and uncaring about others, and he hasn't yet taken to wearing glasses.

Jade doesn't alert anyone of his return; he can't even remember for sure what people from his world are here anyway. But he can be found at a variety of places throughout the village. At the library, he compiles a series of various books to research. He's very curious about the types of abilities found in other worlds. Perhaps that could help him in his latest thoughts, which involve trying to find a way to channel the Seventh Fonon. He spends a lot of time in the Battle Dome as well, where he uses his fonic artes, already more advanced then they should be in his age, in a number of simulations. Mostly, the simulations are set in snowy environments that are like his home world, and this involves him facing a number of deadly beasts that may or may not be outside of his range. He has to practice, he knows that he can't rely on the Professor to pull him out of danger forever.

Otherwise, he can be found exploring the general area, trudging through the snow - the environment being a small reminder of his home. Maybe he'll make some snowballs, for the express purpose of target practice on random passersby...]

[Voice]

[Later, he uses the journal system to try to contact the masses. He'll just leave out little things like who he is and the facts relating to his lack of memory. He actually hasn't seen the new Malnosso post either.]

I'm wondering what types of artes you practice in your own world. Perhaps you know it as 'magic' or some other specialized term. Which abilities are common and easy for one to learn, and which are exceptionally difficult or rare?

Uhhhh... [thinking back to the ENTIRE FUCKING CHEST of materia he has squirreled away and how he doesn't think he's going to just hand it over to some ten year old] The training's not really that tough. I mean- okay, so it's mostly for military use, but it just takes concentration and practice. ...I have a cure type if you wanted to see it. [because what can you fuck up with a cure?]

I'm perfectly capable of concentration and practice. [He practically snaps back. Little colonel in the making.]

...A cure type? I would like to see it. [You have no idea, Cloud.]

[ah it's an academic kid]

Fine by me. I'm in the town square; blond guy with the huge sword on his back.

Understood.

[He cuts off the feed and heads straight there. He's not sure how helpful this will be; his goal is to reach the seventh fonon after all. But perhaps, utilizing a similar ability from a different world can help him in some way.

He walks lightly through the snow in his odd childhood clothing, and as he approaches he announces his presence with the closest to a greeting he can muster.]

Isn't a sword of that size far too impractical?

Sometimes. I got stuck on a door once. [IS THAT TRUE???? his expression is flat, jade might appreciate it in a couple decades

He produces a small glasslike orb, about the size of a ping pong ball. It would be totally unremarkable except for the way it glows green all the way from in its core.]
Here. Mastered Restore materia, which means it's as powered up as it's gonna get. You can heal wounds, even near-fatal stuff. Doesn't heal any kind of sickness or poisons though.

[Cloud's joke will only earn him a flat look and a raised eyebrow. It's when the materia is produced that Jade shows signs of interest and leans closer as he looks it over.]

It's interesting... I'd like to see it in action. [It's the best way to study it, scientifically speaking.]

There's not a lot to see. [Cloud shrugs his shoulders and steps back. Maybe some glowing light and wind out of nowhere counts as "not much to see" for him, but considering the caliber of people Luceti tends to keep it probably isn't much.

Jade'll feel probably a wave of something warm and soft; any aches, pains or small injuries will begin to heal in waves, as well as any injuries he might acquire in the next few minutes.]

That's all there is to it. [Not the most informative demonstration, probably. He holds the materia out for Jade to take.]

[It doesn't really look that impressive compared to a fonic arte, but the effect feels almost like a healing arte. He thinks of the Professor for a moment, and then he reaches to take it in his hands.]

I see. Does its power have any known limits?

Probably, but it does what it's supposed to do. Can't bring back the dead, but I mean...you gotta be really dead for it to not work. [Cloud folds his arms and watches the kid turn the materia over in his hands.] You wanna keep it for a little while?
