First Field of Fonons [Written/Action]

[Written, Anonymous]

[The following anonymous message appears around noon on Sunday. It could be familiar to anyone who's seen it before.]

Excuse me, people of Luceti. I am new here, and I would simply like to make a few requests in order to better ascertain this situaion. First of all, I'd like to request that the following people report to the local schoolhouse's second floor office immediately for questioning:

-Fon Master Ion
-Nephry Osborne (née Balfour)
-Anise Tatlin
-Mystearica Aura Fende
-Florian
-Asch, son of Susanne
-Arietta the Wild

-Also, Luke fon Fabre.

[He intentionally uses a personal touch in some names for several reasons. One is to hint at what he knows about them, which gives incentive for them to come meet with him without knowing for sure who he is. Anger is also a useful incentive, which is why at least one name is written a certain way - not to mention how anger can make someone slip up. And of course, Jade has to see if these people truly answer to such names - if they really have the memories of those he knew back in Auldrant.]

If there is anyone else here hailing from Auldrant whose name is not on that list, I invite them to be questioned as well. Secondly, any authors of this so-called Guide whom still reside within the enclosure are also to come talk to me. I would be glad to speak with anyone who has any other unique information at all.

Finally, I believe there that one of the clothing shop should currently have in its stock a standard grade uniform of the Malkuth imperial forces. If he is currently within Luceti, Gailardia Galan Gardios is to retrieve it and then report in for questioning. Otherwise, this duty shall fall to Luke fon Fabre.

That will be all.

[Action]

[It's been several hours since Jade woke up in this seemingly unoccupied office, which possibly contained some samples of pottery which had a disturbing familiarity to them. Jade had no problem working alone and in this state of undress to figure it out where he was - occasionally examining the hallway and nearby rooms to confirm that he was in some kind of schoolhouse. Even his glasses were gone, but Jade felt no major concern for the time being. He realized after reading the Guide that it could be effect of the supposed power cap reducing his need for the glasses. It just helps him feel more confident on his decision of spending the rest of the day in that room, awaiting those who come to see him, while making some paperwork already from loose sheets of paper.

During these hours before making the anonymous message, he had studying the contents of the journal, reading back through the last few months to gather as much information as possible - and studying the Guide as well. He liked to think that he was taking it calmly and rationally. But he has to confirm things firsthand. The images he saw in that book included those whom he was sure were dead. Until he talks to them himself, he can't dismiss the possibility of being suddenly trapped in a replica world, no matter how final Van's defeat seemed to be. So Jade sat at a desk with his fingers steepled, awaiting the first interviewee, his red eyes more glaringly standing out with his lack of glasses.

One could also catch him that evening in full uniform, browsing the item shop for those glasses once all his interrogations are said and done.]

I -

[She doesn't want to tell him, just in case he isn't aware of what she had done. The colonel's approval had always been something she had valued, and she knows that telling him about her betrayal would break the trust that exists between them; he had already been suspicious of her in Mt Zaleho, she doesn't want to prove him right.]

[But it sounds like he comes from the future, just like Ion had. Does he know already? He wouldn't be treating her like this if he does, would he?]

[The silence is stretching uncomfortably long. She's not looking down any more, but she still doesn't meet his eyes. What could she say? Some part of her wants to pour everything out, to unburden herself, but at the same time she recoils from the thought of losing the Colonel's sort-of-friendship.]

[Deflecting is probably the best way to go. She tries to pull a smile.]

Oh, just a bit! Um, what about you, Colonel? What's the last thing you remember?
failguardian: (The Colonel did WHAT?!)

[She breathes and inward sigh of relief, grateful that the Colonel had allowed her to change the topic, even as she continues to dread the day that he would continue to push her until she spills everything.]

Eldrant? [Her surprise isn't feigned.] Isn't that part of some legend? And what about Lorelei? I thought it spoke through Tear, and...

[She doesn't really remember that part clearly; she had still been reeling from the revelation that Ion is a replica.]
failguardian: (This sunlight is seriously bright.)

[Her curiosity is piqued, but she also wants to steer away from the subject of the future completely, so she doesn't press.]

You're being all mysterious again, Colonel... But fine! So, have you met anyone else from Auldrant yet?
failguardian: (10000 gald for melon enhancement?)

[Surely not, only four out of the nine people in the cast are dead. No big!]

Asch is still as grumpy as ever! But what about Gloomietta? [She glances around. Nothing seems broken.] Did she attack you?
failguardian: (Booo Colonel!)

Argh! She's always so stubborn! What did you want to ask her? Maybe I can tell you instead.
failguardian: (idk bro)

[She hopes her voice is steady, because the only thing she knows is that Arietta comes after Ion's death, and that's one thing she can't reveal to the Colonel.]

If Ion doesn't know, then I don't think either of us can pry it out of her. But what about Asch? He's looking after her right now, so maybe he'll know!

[Well, if they can get him to talk.]
failguardian: (Forward the Tokunaga brigade!)

[She doesn't let the sarcasm faze her.] Well, you know he's kinda soft under all that prickly act he puts up! [She's warming up to the idea! If nothing else, at least a conversation between the Colonel and Asch would be pretty funny.] And I think he cares about Arietta. So if it's important, maybe he'll spill the beans!
failguardian: (Underneath this smile a devil sleeps)

You know what I mean! [She huffs, then nods.] Yep! Asch would never admit it, but I know it's true! But I guess you're right, he probably won't tell you if it's only important to you.
failguardian: (I will stuff happiness down your throat)

[She's instantly on her guard, but if anything, her smile grows wider.]

Sure, what do you want to know? I'm always right here ready to help! ♥

[She nods almost immediately, looking solemn.]

Yeah, she was my teacher. [She hesitates a little before she asks her next question. After the Professor was sent back to Auldrant - to her death - Dist had been more withdrawn than usual. When she asked, Ion told her that the Professor had taught Dist when he was younger. And since the Colonel and Dist were childhood friends...]

Did you know her, Colonel?
failguardian: (Eheheh nothing!)

[And if Anise's senses hadn't failed her, that's definitely one of his "I know something but I'm not telling" schticks. But despite her curiosity, she's still wary about asking too much in case he probes right back into her affairs.]

[Maybe she'll have to ask Ion later. Could he have an illicit love affair with the Professor that Dist was jealous about?]

[Her excitement is abruptly cut off when she once again remembers that the Professor is dead.]

You... [know she's dead, right, is what she's been about to ask, but reconsiders it at the last moment. Learning Ion was dead was the hardest thing she had to face. And maybe, because it's the Colonel, he knows already.]

Um, so! What else do you want to know?
