That's certainly a good question to ask. In battle, I've seen that the Cultists tend to favor attacks that are direct, brutal and savage. The exception, of course, would be the Dream Shifters. The Dream Shifts themselves seem similar to what we recently experienced, but... I'm not so sure if that would be the correct answer, when it was done on such a massive scale this time.
