[The first notable event of the morning is Jade's morning cup of tea falling to the floor with a shatter. He's sitting at the dining room table and looking on with an expression that looks equal parts disturbed and befuddled. The reason? A certain woman seems to be walking through the house, reacting as if being greeted by others. Yet never looking directly at Jade...

Jade spends some time afterwards investigating the house, until the second phenomenon occurs: the appearance of an unusual man at the house's piano, and he seems to be playing it...]

[At some point later in the day, the colonel takes to the journals and makes note of the similar observations that two others have made. It's time to organize these thoughts... He sends out a voice transmission.]

This is Colonel Jade Curtiss. I'm speaking regarding a recent phenomenon in this village. Most likely, it's another shift at play. But I'd like to hear about others' observations to ensure that we reach a proper conclusion.

Have any of you happened to spot unusual figures around Luceti? They're nusual in the way that they do not seem to notice your existence at all, and they in fact seem to fade away after several moments. It will be especially noticeable if they are people you know and who are no longer present in the enclosure. For example, have any of you managed to spot this silver-haired woman anywhere? [Enclosed is a depiction of the woman shown above.]

If any of you have managed to get these apparitions to communicate with you in any way, by all means, feel free to share with the rest of the class.

[Jade can be found at a number of places throughout Luceti, where seeks out the silver-haired woman. The locations that he investigates include the school, the library, the bakery, the item shop and the abandoned House 27. One can find him when he's in the process of seemingly investigating the area, or in the midst of a ghost sighting...]

Quite a number of them, even if it has been a long time sin a few instances.

I assume you've received similar answers from many others?

Yes. They all seem to fit the same criteria. This is all still very helpful towards thinking over the potential answers.

Then what do you think it would be, and what should we do about it?

[Because these are people who have been gone for years, and she hadn't realized how much she had missed them until she saw them again.]

It appears to be an escalation of the time-based shifts that have been present in Luceti.

Locations have already been reverting to their past forms. With that logic, it's not hard to connect it to past residents reappearing, if only in an utterly intangible state.

There are only two options for dealing with this. One is to observe them at every given opportunity and collect data to see if there are any variations. If there truly is no way to reach out to them.

The other option would be to avoid them entirely. It may prove more beneficial for one's mental wellbeing.

I suppose it would be beneficial to try and collect this information, at least to see if there is any sort of pattern or significance to their appearance.

However as you have mentioned, there are those who are probably not prepared to see all those different apparitions despite how long it may have been.

I do not doubt one's abilities to decide which of those options truly apply to their selves.

How long before they disappear, do you think?

I'm still trying to ascertain an accurate average. Most sightings have only lasted minutes, but my investigation is still ongoing.

Another thing to consider is how close we are to a certain annual celebration, surely you've heard of Halloween?

Of course. I attended that insipid ball during our trip to Malnosso World last year.

You believe this could be their way of observing it early?

[Ah yes, that ball in the theme park where she was reminded over and over again of her fear of ghosts...]

It could just be a coincidence and be solely related to the strange happenings in the enclosure recently, but I wouldn't put it past some Malnosso either.

It could certainly go either way. But then, many of the Malnosso's moves could prove to be simply arbitrary in nature. Regardless, the only thing we can do in our current position is look into the matter more and see where it leads us.

And so we're back to where we started, is it? As long as they don't start damaging anything, it's only an inconvenience.

Yes, this place seems to have a tendency of returning our efforts to the first square. I suppose it can't be helped. But if they do become corporeal, then we could be facing an entirely different situation. That's why we need to be careful in observing them and see if there is any way in which actual interaction is possible.

It would be all the worse if they have the same power capability as we do. [And with most of her fonic artes still closed off, it's been a constant worry for Tear.]

I tried to interact with some of them at first, but as you've heard several times already: they don't respond.

As expected. I don't want to be lulled into a false sense of security, however. I have to make sure that there are no absolutely no exceptions to that lack of responsiveness, or to see if the shift escalates in some way. It's true that some of them could be dangerous, but if they do end up becoming more than apparitions, then they may end up in distress themselves.

[That possibility hadn't even occurred to Tear, and were they right next to each other Jade would notice the way she slowly froze.]

You think they would be here with memories of their time here?

[He feels like he can imagine it vividly.]

That's one possible theory. They do seem to be acting out routines from their past lives in Luceti. In that sense, they are either lifeless echoes, or perhaps in some way they are physically bleeding through into our time.

['Lifeless echoes.' Hearing them spoken of that way bothers her, because those times she's seen them they acted as though they were alive.]

Then it's as if they really do think they are here, and we're the ones who aren't.

It's possible. We don't seem to be visible to them at all.

That would explain why they don't respond to us at all. It's an unfortunate situation on both ends, except they can't see us at all.

That is true at the time being. Thus, all we can do for now is to observe.

I'll keep to observing the house, then. The others might need the help on occasion.
